Renew, Restore, Rebuild: Haiti Relief Fund
Our brothers and sisters in Haiti are very much in need of our help. The devastation that we see and hear about touches our hearts. Now is the time for action! St Paul Baptist Church, under the direction of Lott Carey and the NC General Baptist State Convention, has made a commitment to help “the least of these”. There are three initial ways that we are helping.
#1. Financial Donations and Fund Raising #2. Collection of Goods and Supplies Bring the following items to the church on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Bottled Water (cases of 16 oz. bottles) #12 Extension Cords (25 feet) Flash Lights and Batteries Gloves Dust Masks 25 - 50 lb Sacks of Rice 25- 50 lb Sacks of Bean
A truck will be available in the parking lot to load these items and transport them to Lake Charles, LA where a ship will take them to Haiti. Due to limited space, we cannot store large quantities of donations at this time, so please bring them on March 13. Volunteers will also needed. If you are interested, please sign up at the HOST table.
#3 Volunteers to Work in Haiti Anyone interested in traveling to Haiti to work and help our neighbors to rebuild, please see Brenda Kennedy or Arvette Pearson to start the application process. Once the application process is completed, applicants will be notified about the date of departure to Haiti. Medical personnel (doctors and nurses) will also be needed .
Remember “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”. Matthew 25:35-40
