Saint Paul is affiliated with several religious organizations on the local, state and national levels. Our involvement and financial support help extend our Christian mission “to convince the unconvinced” throughout the world. Saint Paul is serious about its involvement and actively participates at annual meetings and conventions. Your consistent and generous giving through tithes and offerings makes our participation possible in the organizations described below.  
 
  Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Missionary Convention
 The Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Missionary Convention was organized December 15, 1897 at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, DC. It is named after the Reverend Lott Carey, a distinguished missionary who labored in Liberia for many years. The Convention supports 133 missionaries in Guyana, India, Liberia, Kenya, South Africa, Jamaica, Haiti and Nigeria. Its mission focus includes evangelism, education, health care and hunger relief. At the 2000 Annual Session, the Convention launched its HIV/AIDS initiative which “promotes effective, comprehensive, sustainable and replicate faith based health models that respond to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa, the Caribbean and parts of southeast Asia. The Convention is headquartered in Washington, DC. Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley currently serves as Executive Secretary-Treasurer. To learn more, visit www.lottcarey.org.
 
American Baptist Churches of the South 
The American Baptist Churches of the South is a regional organization of the American Baptist Church, USA, Inc.   The ABC of the South was organized in 1970 “to encourage and expand an integrated Christian fellowship of black and white churches in the South, as well as, to expand its role in the support of higher education as relates to black colleges and universities in the South.   Today, the ABC of the South includes 264 congregations with a budget of almost half a million dollars. It can be said of the ABC of the South that “from the beginning, a constant attempt has been made to maintain an office staff and elected officers that are racially inclusive and are composed of men and women across a broad age range.” To learn more visit www. abcots.org

National Baptist Convention, USA, Incorporated 

The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., was formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1895 from the merger of three Baptist Conventions. The mission of the Convention is “to promote home and foreign mission, encourage and support Christian Education, publish and distribute Sunday School and religious education literature and in engage in other Christian endeavors to advance the work of Christ throughout the world.” The Conventions boasts of 8.5 million members. Its world headquarters and publishing house is located in Nashville, Tennessee. It supports black educational institutions such as the Morehouse School of Religion and the American Baptist Theological Seminary which the convention jointly with the Southern Baptist Convention in 1924. The Convention meets annually in September and its largest Auxiliary, the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education meets annually in June. To learn more, visit www.nationalbaptist.org.

Progressive National Baptist Convention, Incorporated

The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., was organized November 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Convention is largely an outgrowth of dissatisfaction over tenure and the procedure for electing officers of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. The spirit and foundation of the Progressive National Baptist Convention can be summed up in its motto, “Fellowship, Progress, Service and Peace.” The Convention is a strong supporter of Global Missions with mission stations in Nigeria, Haiti, Liberia, Sierra Leone and South Africa. It initiated the “One Church, One Child” program which seeks to place black children in Christian homes. The Convention also financially supports historically black colleges and universities such as Morehouse School of Religion, Shaw University and Howard University School of Religion. The Convention consists of more than 1,800 congregations and a total membership of 2.5 million. The Convention’s Annual Session and Congress of Christian Education meet in August. General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. 

The General Baptist State Convention was organized October 17, 1867 at the First African Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina. It was originally formed “to support the Gospel ministry and to promote missions.” The GBSC has stood strong for over 135 years. The Convention now has a membership of over 600,000 black Baptists. GBSC is headquartered on Wilmington Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. It has five auxiliaries: the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention, Congress of Christian Education, Ushers Convention, Laymen League and Minister’s Council. The Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention is unique in that it maintains separate offices at the Baptist Headquarters in Raleigh and it employs an Executive Secretary-Treasurer. The Woman’s Convention was organized in 1884. Its purpose is “to organize and improve missionary circles, to promote a broader spirit of missionary endeavor; to encourage the study of the Bible and to support missionaries on the foreign field.” The Woman’s Convention sponsors several annual meetings including a convention in July, a mid-year session in January. a Statewide Leaders’ Workshop in April and a Youth Bible Camp in June. The GBSC financially supports five objectives: Shaw University and Shaw Divinity School, Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, the Central Children’s Home and State Missions which includes the J.J. Johnson Baptist Assembly in Laurel Hill, North Carolina (see descriptions below). Dr. Archie D. Logan currently serves as the Executive Secretary-Treasurer. United Missionary Baptist Association

The Mount Peace Baptist Association is comprised of approximately twenty-five (25) churches in Mecklenburg, Gaston and Union counties. Mount Peace provides financial support to the objectives of the General Baptist State Convention. The Association meets annually in September.
